Florida’s Durkin named MLL Defensive Player of the Year; Wolf is OPOY Nominee

Bryn Athyn College men’s lacrosse head coach and Florida Launch co-captain Tucker Durkin (La Salle, Duke’s LC) was selected as the 2017 Warrior Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Defensive Player of the Year during the MLL Honors ceremony Friday night. The award was voted on by the MLL’s nine head coaches and nine general managers,

Durkin — who was also named to the All-MLL Team for the fifth time in his career — led a Launch defense that sported the MLL’s best penalty kill at 81.25 percent. He played in all 14 matches, racking up 13 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers. The Launch ended the regular season with a 14.43 goals-against average.

Florida went 8-6 in 2017 and reached the MLL Playoffs for the first time in program history.

Wolf is Offensive Player of the Year Nominee

Jordan Wolf (Lower Merion, Duke’s LC), Attack, Rochester Rattlers

With 29 goals and 15 assists in nine games, Wolf averaged 4.89 points per game this season, the second-highest mark in the league. Despite missing part of the season due to injury, Wolf led the Rattlers in points for the third straight season. He won the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week in the last week of the regular season when he scored the game-winning goal late in the fourth quarter against Ohio as part of a four-point night. The win clinched a spot in the postseason for the Rattlers.
